ova players succeed

Congrats to most of our OVA players for making their respective high school teams. Many of our 9th graders went on to make their JV and Varsity high school teams. Our 10th graders also made JV and Varsity teams.

2025-26 club season info & club philosophy

  • NATIONAL: 5+ years experience- More info coming soon!
  • POWER: 4+ years exp. . 4 hours per week. (8) tournaments per season.
  • SELECT: 3+ years. 4 hours per week. (8) tournaments per season.
  • PREMIER: 2+ years exp. 4 hours per week. (8) tournaments per season.
  • PRIME Mini Club Academy: For Beginners. 2 hours per week. (2) month season.

OVA has created a culture of inclusivity and diversity. We accept players and families that want to be here, and that will create a positive environment, and cohesion within their team and with other OVA families. We proudly separate ourselves from other clubs where the Directors know each player by name. OVA provides all club players with a BBQ Kick Off Party in November, and End of Year Party in June. A special award ceremony is offered to our seniors.

OVA plans on adding more travel for Power teams next club season. We plan on offering one Power, Select & Prime per age group, depending on experience and skill level. We will not create Power teams unless they're going to be very competitive. Next season, we will be limiting the number of teams, due to the high interest in our program. We plan on creating longer practices, and more individual training, so all players can succeed.

OVA plans to implement POWER, SELECT & PREMIER teams starting in mid November with Specialized Clinics. Team bonding events will also take place in November. The official team practices begin on December 1st thru mid May. 18U teams will begin one month earlier, and end in late March at the South Lake Tahoe Invitational.

PRIME Mini Club- Players grades 4-8 may participate in our Prime program.  Players will learn all the skills during their 2- hour practice/ games. The entry level program will consist of (2) seasons:

  • Winter Season (8-week program), starting January 5th thru February 21st. Practices will take place every Sunday at the YMCA. Fee: TBA
  • Spring Season (8-week program), starting March 2nd- April 20th. Practices will take place on Sundays at the YMCA. Fee: TBA

OVA training process

Our process for creating successful athletes is with our GMS philosophy and model. We believe that if we teach and train athletes the proper way, we can accelerate the learning process. At every training session, we are consistently assessing players and motivating them to learn, while building confidence.

We teach advanced techniques for all players and preparing them for varsity volleyball. While most clubs are placing players on Premier and Power teams in their first year as club players, we emphasize our Prime --> Premier -->Power training progression

My 20+ years of teaching youth development has enabled me to create this foundation, while observing many players make their high school teams, and having successful collegiate careers.

gold medal squared Philosophy

All of our teachings are based on the Gold Medal Squared philosophy (see below), as well as studying the most successful teachings from around the country... Players from the surrounding areas will take part of the newest volleyball club in Sacramento. All players are coached by our experienced OVA coaching staff, and supervised by the director.

We look forward to seeing you on the court!
Rick Reyes/ Club Director

The ENTIRE OVA coaching staff is fantastic--knowledgeable, professional, patient, and encouraging.  Thanks for giving our kids of all skill levels a chance and instilling confidence in them!!  --VVF

The positive training environment and the bonds she has made with her teammates are just a couple of reasons why my daughter enjoys playing for OVA. As a beginner she has learned so much already and it’s wonderful seeing her confidence grow! Thank you OVA!!
